Story Game Workshop 2: The New Reality: Perception Is the Story
Tue-Sat, 4th-8th April 2006 Jessica Mulligan, Executive Consultant, Online Games Following the baseline laid down in the lecture, participants will receive a more detailed overview of the considerations, issues and problems of telling a story in an age when everyone is connected to everyone else through mobile phones, the Internet and the shared experiences of movies, television and other static entertainment. We'll examine how audience participation in the story is growing past the old standard of "watch and opine" on a linear set of assumptions, into a new world where the audience is an electronic participant and, in some cases, the driver of the story, and how this makes a good, but flexible, storyteller even more important to the audience. The participants will then break out into working groups to design a story and entertainment piece based on this new reality. |
