Beyond pluralistic perspectives - new frontiers of game studies?
Tuesday, 31st October 2006 Ilari Kuittinen, CEO & Co-founder, Housemarque Video stream (rm) Postmodern worldview is marked by pluralism, which has given people taking this perspective the ability to see that there are multiple ways of seeing reality. There is no single authority such as church or state that gives all the answers and the great advances in science and formal rationality are not clearly providing all the answers. Instead, pluralistic worldviews sees multiple universal truths, which are different ones for different cultures. However, there is a new theory that is urging an "integral" approach to include even more perspectives to our ways to perceive personal and global issues. "Integral" simply means more balanced, comprehensive, interconnected, and whole. By using an Integral approach-whether it's in business, personal development, art, education, or spirituality (or any of dozens of other fields) we can include more aspects of reality, and more of our humanity, in order to become more fully awake and effective in anything we do. The lecture is exploring the basic concepts of integral model and how this approach may be applied to game studies. |
